So, it should have been Neil presenting with you today, Feifei, but he’s gone on holiday, so you’ve got me instead.

Feifei
Yes, I know. 我们的同事 Neil 正在休年假，整整两周时间呢。

Rob
Oh, lucky Neil. Two weeks doing nothing – sitting on the beach in the sun, eating ice-cream. Wonderful!

Feifei
Oh, Neil won’t be sitting on any beaches. He’s going to help teach English at a school in Spain.

Rob
What? He’s gone to Spain to do the same work he does here – that’s a bit of a busman’s holiday, isn’t it?

Feifei
“A busman’s holiday 一位公车司机的假期”？Neil 又不是公车司机。Neil’s job isn’t driving buses, Rob.

Rob
No, Feifei – a busman’s holiday is a holiday where you do the same thing you do at work instead of just having a rest.

Feifei
原来，在英语里，“a busman’s holiday”是指“一个照常工作的节假日”，也就是说虽然在休假但仍然做一些与自己平日上班做的类似的工作。That’s a strange choice, isn’t it, Rob?
