Feifei, that’s the last place you will find someone who is down in the dumps. It’s just a saying that describes someone who is unhappy, fed up and sometimes feels there is no hope.

Ah I see! 原来，在英语里，“down in the dumps”和“垃圾堆 dump”之间没有直接关系。“Down in the dumps”用来形容一个人的心情低落，郁闷、不高兴。Being depressed or unhappy is a miserable feeling – a bit like being at a rubbish dump, actually.
