Jiaying
Well, umm…

Rob
… you know, food, drink, dancing – I can’t wait for it!

Jiaying
Err… Rob, didn’t you get the message? I’ve had to push back on the party.

Rob
Push back? You’re moving the location?

Jiaying
No, I mean delay it. 如果你 “push back” 一项计划或安排，意思就是 “推迟某件事情，延期进行”。我这场聚会不能如期举办了。

Rob
Oh, right. So, it’s starting later – about eight o’clock?

Jiaying
No, I’ve had to push back by weeks! For now, I’ve postponed it. 我们也可以用动词 “postpone” 来表示 “推迟、延后原本的计划或安排”。

Rob
Oh, dear, I was really looking forward to a night out. Have you pushed back on listening to the examples as well?

Jiaying
No, here they are…
